Cheese-Making
Workshop
at Sprout Creek Farm
Three times per
week, the creamery at Sprout Creek Farm is set abuzz with the excitement
of the transformation of milk into cheese. From our Market, visitors
can watch the process from beginning to end through the viewing windows.
Now, Sprout Creek Farm offers you the unique opportunity to enter the
creamery and work the curds with your own hands under the instruction
of cheese maker Brent Wasser and his team.
In keeping with the farm’s mission of education through experience,
these workshops will help to unveil the process of traditional cheese
making.
A tour of the barn,
creamery and ripening rooms and an informal tasting is interesting and
fun for everyone, from teams of culinary professionals to those who
simply want to satisfy a curiosity.
Brent Wasser, Head Cheese Maker, traveled through Europe on a Fulbright Scholarship before coming to Sprout Creek Farm. He worked as an assistant to the previous cheesemaker at SCF while still a student at the Culinary Institute of America. As a recent honored graduate, Brent understands the desire to learn more about food and cheese making. He is an enthusiastic and thorough teacher with a bounty of knowledge about all things gastronomic.
