The Little (and Big) Things I’ve Learned
1.
Don’t pick the coldest night of the summer to sleep outside.

Don’t pet a cat unless you’re 100% sure it’s not a raccoon.
3.
Listen to what the six-year-olds say, because a lot of the time they make much more sense than you do.
4.
Making salt dough is an art. It’s much harder than it looks.

Washing dishes for 40 people is a lot more fun with friends.
6.
Don’t underestimate the power of 8-year-old boys with dodge-balls, because they’re much better than they look.
7.
You really can live without a real bathroom for two weeks.

When you come to Sprout Creek Farm, you become part of a family.

You never smell good on a farm, so don’t even try to mask the smell of sweat, dirt, and whatever else you may have on you from a long day’s work.
10. "Yes, of course there are creek sharks! That’s why we can’t go past the buoy."

People have many sides to them and the more you visit Sprout Creek Farm, the more sides of people you see.

As a camper, you’re not allowed to bring an iPod. As a counselor you are allowed. Did you use it either way? No.
13. Go to bed early no matter how much fun you’re having talking with your friends because you will regret it in the morning.
14. The sounds of nature are more soothing than the sounds of your rap CD any day.
15. When you walk into Sprout Creek Farm, it’s like walking into a whole other world.
16. 1000 or 10 miles from home, you almost never feel homesick.
17. No matter how much American Idol you missed while spending time on the farm, it just doesn’t feel right watching it the minute you get back home.
18. Doug could cook anything he wanted, but by the end of the dayyou’re so hungry that you’ll eat anything.
19. NoJillian Spies you leave the farm for 2 weeks or a year, it always feels like home
