Summer Network Programs

Project Harvest
Project Harvest is a weeklong service program giving girls and boys from the network and the community the opportunity to live together at Sprout Creek Farm while working at an organic garden, a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), and a soup kitchen. From growing and harvesting to feeding others and themselves, participants enjoy new experiences, make new friends and gain broader perspectives. During this week “Harvesters” learn more about those in need, the world around them, and, in turn, themselves. There are two weeks for girls and one week for boys, separately.

Institute for Social and
Environmental Awareness (ISEA)
ISEA is a program designed for Network Students entering grades 10, 11, and 12. Along with the GreenTeens, a local group of high school students, participants do many farm projects together: animal chores, gardening, and building projects. They cook and share meals and refection, do team building and recreational activities, and build community. The farm provides the environment where participants together learn through experience about such topics as animal husbandry, sustainable agriculture, construction, and farming. Seminars focus on global food issues, the importance of honey bees the future of our planet, the interconnectedness of lifestyle and environmental impacts, food production, distribution, and consumption and their implications.
